Overview

The Davisburg Sustainable Engineering Club, founded to foster sustainability within the community, led impactful projects such as the Mill Pond renovation.

Mill Pond Renovation Project

This $5 million project involved significant river restoration efforts, with sediment traps set up to pool and filter the river. Over time, we saw the river widen, then narrow, as sediment was removed, allowing for a vibrant and biodiverse environment to develop.

Our team collaborated with Oakland County Parks and Stantec to survey the area, set up sediment traps, and narrow the channel. Additional surveys ensured the river’s transformation aligned with our biodiversity goals, and soil borings and pathways were created for public access. This project significantly enhanced the local ecosystem while staying within budget.

Birdhouse Competition

To foster environmental stewardship among the youth, we hosted an annual birdhouse-making contest. Here are the winners:
